Why Portugal?

Stunning Coastline of the Algarve
Looking out from the Iberian peninsula into the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a country of astonishing beauty and diversity. You’ll discover rugged, windswept coastline, sophisticated beach resorts, historic cities, beautiful mountain ranges, some of the best beaches in Europe and friendly, courteous people.
Portugal is a country with a rich and turbulent history of searfaring and discovery. It’s been occupied by the Romans and the Moors, who both left a wealth of ancient sites as well as a strong influence on local art and architecture. In fact, modern Portugal has enough World Heritage Sites to keep you busy for a very long time. Coimbra, in central Portugal contains one of the oldest Universities in Europe, while stunning castles paid for with gold from the new world are sprinkled around the country.
If you’re looking for an activity holiday, Portugal is one of Europe’s very best golfing destinations while tennis schools are first class. You could also try your hand at big game fishing or horse riding, learn how to water-ski or windsurf.
You can also experience fado which is Portuguese soul music, wander around the country fairs taking in time-honoured folk traditions, watch fishermen mend their nets beside brightly painted sardine boats or amble along cobbled streets of dazzling whitewash houses.
